Who We Are

  Natalie Allio   Natalie holds a Master’s degree in Eco-psychology as well as a certificate in Collaborative Solutions in Natural Resources.  She sits on the board of the Upper Arkansas Conservation District and is involved in multiple conservation projects.  She has completed Holistic Management International’s training in Whole Ranch/Farm Planning and Whole Ranch/Farm Land Management, and is on track to become a certified HMI educator.  Natalie has a lifetime of experience with horses in various settings including equine veterinary medicine.  Prior to the purchase of Badger Creek Ranch she worked as barn manager and guest activities coordinator at a large guest ranch in Northern Colorado.  Her responsibilities included overseeing the health, welfare and training of a herd of 80 horses, supervising a staff of 6 wranglers, and matching guests with the appropriate horse during their stay.  With an undergraduate degree in leadership and management, Natalie takes an active role in coordinating daily activities on Badger Creek Ranch, as well as community outreach, education and marketing.

  Brian Allio   Brian is a skilled architectural designer with 25 plus years of experience in design and construction.  He has designed a variety of building styles including log and timber-frame, prefabricated trusses and panels, as well as custom additions and remodels.  His experience includes hands on construction and he is proficient at building, basic plumbing, and electrical.   Agriculture is in his blood having grown up on his Grandfather’s farm helping with hay production and managing a small herd of beef cattle.  Brian has over 20 years of experience with horses and horsemanship, and managed a large guest ranch operation (80 horses, 20 seasonal employees, and an average of 25 guests/week) in Northern Colorado prior to the purchase of Badger Creek Ranch.  As a managing member of a working cattle and guest ranch we are required to wear many hats.  Brian takes primary responsibility for sales and marketing in the guest operation, responding to guest inquiries and booking reservations.  He is also out on the land monitoring herd health, grass, water and fences.  Guests enjoy the opportunity to ride out with him whether it’s time to check and move the herd, or repair a section of broken fence.   Brian is also skilled at managing the kitchen from selecting menu items to designing the inventory system that supports the menu.  He is also a great cook, guests and staff alike love it when Brian is in the kitchen.

Brian is also skilled at managing the kitchen from selecting menu items to designing the inventory system that supports the menu.  He is also a great cook, guests and staff alike love it when Brian is in the kitchen.

 
  Chrissy McFarren   Chrissy has a love for the land and all the beings that inhabit it.  She is an intuitive horsewoman with a lifetime of experience, from training and exercising Thoroughbreds on the track, to caring for rescue and rehab horses, to teaching beginners to ride, she does it all with a sensitivity that puts both horses and humans at ease.  Prior to purchasing Badger Creek Ranch, Chrissy owned and operated Full Circle Farm in West Virginia where she, and her family, hosted farm stays and retreats.  She is a trained facilitator and in 2011 she founded a non-profit dedicated to healing and self-development through connection with nature.   Chrissy is knowledgeable in holistic farm and ranching practices having raised and sold pastured pork and poultry for 8 years at Full Circle Farm.  Chrissy oversees the purchase, care, pasture rotation, and processing of our pastured pork and poultry.   Skilled in hospitality, Chrissy creates and oversees a clean, comfortable space for guests that makes them immediately feel at home.  Guests enjoy learning about the Native American history and culture as Chrissy shares her extensive knowledge of Native tradition.  Dedicated to caring for the animals and the land, Chrissy keeps a close eye on both, riding out to check and move cattle, monitor grass, water, and fences, all while ensuring a safe, enjoyable experience for our guests.

  Dave McFarren:   Dave is undeniably a “people person.”   While many of his ranch duties keep him in the back office, guests love his musical talent and keen sense of humor.   With many years of experience in the IT field doing database application development, Dave keeps all things technical running smoothly.  He is our Web master, bookkeeper and accountant, skilled at capturing the many details associated with running a multi-faceted working and guest ranch business.  Dave is also a trained facilitator, and prior to purchasing Badger Creek Ranch, he owned and operated Full Circle Farm in West Virginia, where he, and his family, hosted farm stays and retreats.  In 2011 he co-founded a non-profit with his wife Chrissy where, in addition to facilitating and training, he has taken primary responsibility for technical support, bookkeeping, and accounting.
