Our working cattle ranch is located in the Badger Creek Basin at approximately 9,000 feet in the Ute Trail area, northwest of Canon City, Colorado. The area is rich in history from the Spanish Conquistadores, to the Ute Indians who had their summer hunting grounds here, to the pioneers and cowboys of the old west, to our present day Badger Creek Ranch.

While at the ranch you will be horseback riding and working our cattle. You will be an important part of our cowboy crew from saddling your horse, to riding fences, rounding up, moving, doctoring, and sorting our 100-200 head of cattle. There will be no head to tail riding here!

We will supply you with excellent cow horses and equipment to ride and enjoy our Ranch. We always try to match our horses to the riders’ ability to insure maximum enjoyment. During our daily rides you can observe an abundance of wildlife such as elk, mule deer, white tail deer, mountain sheep, bear, coyote, and antelope.

After a long day in the saddle you’ll sleep comfortably in a large bunkhouse where private rooms and bathrooms with hot showers are provided.

Hearty meals are prepared three times a day. Help yourself to snacks, soda, ice tea, tea and coffee anytime in the bunkhouse. A warm delicious breakfast will keep you energized for the trails ahead. Breakfast and dinner are served in the bunkhouse but lunch is usually out of your saddlebag on the open range. With all the mountain air, you will be ready for a hearty home cooked meal. Make sure you leave enough room for a slice of pie!
Badger Creek Ranch doesn’t have a liquor license but you are welcome to bring your own.

In the evenings feel free to wander the Ranch, ponder on the porch, or kick back in the bunkhouse for T.V. or a movie. Other activities close to the Ranch include trout fishing in the Badger Creek or Arkansas River, whitewater rafting, visiting the famous Royal Gorge, hiking, mountain biking, or just trail riding in the scenic Rocky Mountains. Canon City and Salida are a close drive for shopping, rodeos, restaurants and golf.
